Suggested Best Practices for

ASAC-Affiliated Horse Shows

  1. All ASAC high point classes should be conducted by USEF class specifications. However, no show needs to be USEF licensed.

  2. Farrier on show grounds.

  3. Veterinarian on grounds or on call. Contact information prominently posted.

  4. Adequate stabling facilities.

  5. Provide adequate water supply for horses.

  6. A separate warm-up area.

  7. A ring with suitable lighting for night shows.

  8. Properly maintained restroom facilities.

  9. Two shows on same date should be at least 50 miles apart.

  10. At least six (6) ribbons awarded per class.

  11. All shows in NC/SC offering an Academy division should be consistent with the ASAC Academy Rule Book.

  12. Include as broad a selection of Saddlebred, Hackney, Roadster, and Academy classes that the schedule and/or local support will permit.

  13. If a show is comprised predominantly of academy classes, it should have a multi-day schedule and be held at a horse show facility offering the above amenities in order to affiliate with ASAC for High Points.
