All the locations below sell USPS postage stamps which can be used to mail First Class letters in the United States. We list both official post offices run by the United States Postal Service and retailers which have been authorized by USPS to sell postal products in New York.

You can buy USPS Forever stamps at any post office or USPS authorized reseller. Forever stamps can always be used to mail a standard one-ounce letter, regardless of the current postal rate. This makes them the perfect sheet of stamps to keep on hand if you only occasionally mail letters.

Whether you want to send a greeting or holiday card, mail in an absentee ballot, pay a bill, or connect with some quarantine pen pals, it's always useful to have some stamps on hand. It costs 60 cents to send a domestic 1-ounce, standard-sized envelope through the United States Postal Service, making it an affordable way to correspond with people in a tactile, memorable way.

A booklet of 20 stamps comes out to around $12. The beauty of "forever" stamps is that you can still use them even when the price of mailing a letter goes up. If you find a roll of forever stamps from 2016, when the price was 47 cents, you can still stick one on an envelope today and drop it into a mailbox.

This is a given, but depending on the time of the day, the customer service queue can get long. If you just need stamps, use one of the electronic self-service kiosks (where available) instead; there are usually no lines to use them. The downside is that you won't be able to buy specialty stamps.

The post office's website offers a variety of stamps, from the standard US Flag to seasonal (e.g., Christmas, Diwali, Kwanzaa, Halloween) and themed options (e.g., Peanuts characters, the James Webb Space Telescope images, elephants), as well as notable Americans like Edmonia Lewis, Eugenie Clark, Chien-Shiung Wu, and Pete Seeger. The site lets you filter by color, shape, theme, denomination, and more.

Everywhere from grocery stores to pharmacies to office supply stores often sell stamps. Instead of just chancing whether your local Publix or Kroger has them, you can find out using USPS's location tool. Put in your zip code and choose "national retailer" from the drop-down location menu. Depending on where you live, you'll get results like Walgreens, Winn-Dixie, and Staples. Keep in mind that these locations often only sell booklets, so you won't be able to purchase stamps individually. And most stores only carry them at their physical locations

Costco also sells stamps, in 100-count batches, making it a good option for businesses and prolific letter writers. They aren't available online and may not be in every store location. Sam's Club will let you purchase stamps online, however.

Some banks and credit unions sell stamps through their ATMs or tellers. This varies by location, but the next time you are doing a transaction, check to see if they offer stamps as well. Fifth Third Bank lets you filter by locations that sell stamps when you search for an ATM or branch on its website. A representative for Wells Fargo said the bank is no longer selling stamps.

You can also request stamps from your mail carrier, who will provide you with an order form. You can order by phone at 1-800-STAMP-24 (800-782-6724). If your business needs to buy stamps in bulk, you can call that number or email Those keen to start collecting can also page through the USA Philatelic catalog and use its order form.

Note: Minted, Zazzle, and other gift sites used to sell personalized stamps, but the USPS discontinued the program in June 2020. You can still send mail with any leftover postage you may have bought previously.

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), commonly known as food stamps, helps people with limited income buy food. Benefits are provided on an electronic card that is used like an ATM card and accepted at most grocery stores and supermarkets.

New to this country and struggling to find where I can buy stamps and plain white envelopes. I was at fedex to drop off a return package last night and thought I could buy them there but oddly they said they don't sell that stuff.

This seems stupid but this was all so much easier in Canada with canada post, I could go to a centre, purchase envelopes, boxes, packets, stamps, whatever, and then get them shipped at the same place. Anything like that here in NY?

NOTE: Transactions that cannot be made via the links above: Permits for hunters with disability, the Harvest Information Program, Migratory Duck Stamp, and some reduced fee/free licenses require a separate application system or process. Please follow the links provided on this page for details on how to apply to these permits, stamps or licenses.

When coupons and food stamps are used to make purchases, or when they are used in combination with cash or other forms of payment, it affects the way sales tax is computed. This bulletin explains:

Food stamps* can be used to purchase any food, food product, or nonalcoholic beverage intended for human consumption (eligible items). If a food or beverage item is ordinarily subject to sales tax, the purchase will be nontaxable if the item is purchased with food stamps. Some examples of items that are generally taxable, but not taxable when they are purchased with food stamps are:

*Beginning in 2008, the federal government food stamp program changed its name to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. Purchases using food stamps with cash, credit cards, or debit cards

If a customer purchases taxable and nontaxable food stamp eligible items and pays with a combination of food stamps and cash, credit card, or debit card, the vendor must apply the food stamps to the eligible taxable items first, and then any remaining food stamps to the eligible nontaxable purchases.

The customer uses $20.00 in food stamps. The cashier must first apply the food stamps to the taxable purchases (bottled water, diet soda, and fruit punch drink). Since the total of these taxable items ($12.45) is less than the amount of food stamps given, ($20.00), no sales tax is due on this transaction.

If you look or search properly, you will definitely find a place where you can buy stamps, these include the US Postal Service, or large retail stores such as Target stores, Costco, and Staples. Fortunately, some financial institutions are also involved in the sales of stamps, these include Wells Fargo and US Bank. If you are planning on using large courier companies such as UPS, and Fed Ex , you may want to buy your postage stamps at such places because they have stores scattered all over New York City.

If you want to buy stamps in New York City at the best competitive rates, you should consider using USPS. The United States Postal Service distribution centers can also be found in several parts of the New York City, and there are small centers that have been established for those who may not be able to access the downtown areas with their cars, these centers provide the same postal services like the main USPS offices.

Licensed tobacco retailers throughout New York City are selling a substantial number of cigarette packs carrying either counterfeit or out-of-state tax stamps, finds an investigation by NYU public health researchers.

In New York City, stamping agents pay cigarette taxes to the government in advance; they purchase and affix tax stamps to packs for wholesalers, who in turn sell the stamped packs to the more than 9,700 licensed retailers.

Prior studies have collected littered cigarette packs and examined their stamps to try and understand the extent to which cigarette taxes are dodged, but evidence about tax evasion, especially in over-the-counter cigarette sales, is still scarce.

See how stamps are made inside NYC's iconic Casey Rubber Stamps. The shop has been owned by John Casey for nearly 20 years. It's located on East 11th Street in downtown NYC. I loved watching Casey make his stamps in the video. So much care and focus goes into his process. Residents and tourists can make their own rubber stamps in the shop, too. Nothing beats handmade items, so if you're in need of some high quality stamps, you can check out the shop's site here or stop by in person.

"John Casey is the owner of East Village mainstay Casey Rubber Stamps, a local landmark that has endured for almost two decades. The iconic stamp and ink shop, located on East 11th Street in downtown New York, is beloved by locals. For years, residents and tourists alike have swung by to buy and make their own novelty rubber stamps. Watch this short film from filmmakers Eric Maierson and Leandro Badalotti for a glimpse into Casey's intricate stamp-making process. "

When I was a child, I was into collecting coins in a big way. My father owned a dance hall [in Ireland] and used to go to a print shop to get posters made, and they also made rubber stamps. They had an old printing block of a coin and they turned the coin into a rubber stamp. I thought it was so incredible that they could turn something so simple and reproduce the image so perfectly and with such detail, that it just appealed to me. I was only 13 years old, and here I am, many years later, still using that same process and being fascinated by it.

We can make rubber stamps up to an 8-inch x 10-inch size, but I advise people to stay within the size of our largest ink pad which is 4 x 7 inches for easier stamping. We sell about 40 different colors of ink pads, including waterproof ink pads for non-porous surfaces and fabric ink pads. 041b061a72
